This is for the liberals...

This is for all you anti-death penalty people out there. If you can read this article and say this man doesn't deserve to die for this crime, you really are crazy. I think he sacrifices his right to life after committed such an atrocious crime. If you can sleep at night being comfortable with your tax dollars paying for his meals, gym time, and ( Read more... )

I won't say he doesn't "deserve" to die, but I still oppose the death penalty for all people, including him. I don't believe that man has the right to kill, and I don't believe we're in any position to say what he truly "deserves". My opposition to death penalty is not based on what crime is committed, so I wouldn't make an exception for him or anyone else, regardless of the crime ( ... )

I'll argue with you based on figures from the past. But nowadays with DNA technology i think we are very accurate with those who get accused and convicted of capital murder ( ... )

DNA evidence is still far from perfect, and it's a much better tool to prove innocence in past cases where DNA was never orignally analyzed than it is to prove guilt beyond a shadow fo a doubt today.

The only problem with that argument is that when we give the death penalty only to people who confess, so as to be 100% sure of their guilt, that provides a HUGE disincentive to confess. We need those confessions.

I don't have sympathy for anyone who kills anyone, but we also shouldn't be levying different punishments for more brutal crimes. Murder is murder, whether it's confessed to or not, whether it's brutal or not, and whether it was done in front of children or not. For that reason, it's better to have a foolproof penalty like life rather than to mess around with death for some and not all. And death for all is a much worse idea than any of those options.

Thanks for the shoutout for Iwo Jima vets. My grandfather fought in the Pacific, and I appreciate you bringing it up. Tell your dad I said thanks for raising a good son.
