Girl, Interrupted.

I finally got around to watching "Girl, Interrupted". I would really like to know what the hell happened to Angelina Jolie's acting (and Brittany Murphy's, too). This movie proves that she can act. She didn't win that Supporting Actress Oscar for nothing. The movie pretty much begins when she first appears in the asylum. The opening sequence is ( Read more... )

No, I don't know anything about her, but she sounds like a fun lady. I'll google her. I tend to like mentally unstable people.

Okay, I love her:

"This is not a novel to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force."

"Time doth flit; oh shit."

"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy."

"Summer makes me drowsy. Autumn makes me sing. Winter's pretty lousy, but I hate Spring."

"That would be a good thing for them to cut on my tombstone: 'Wherever she went, including here, it was against her better judgment.'"

"I've been too fucking busy, and vice versa."

"She delivered a striking performance that ran the gamut of emotions, from A to B." - Dorothy Parker, speaking of Katharine Hepburn (So it was HER who said this.

I've always been interested in asylums, prisons, mentally ill people, lobotomy, etc., so whenever I get a change to watch a movie that explores all those things, I get extremely giddy and happy. A lot of my favourite movies ("One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest", "Frances", "The Hours" just to name a few) tell stories about mentally unstable people or take place in the aforementioned institutions.

well, mentally ill people are interested in themselves ;)
we weren't allowed to watch "One flew over the cuckoo's nest"; they even took away from me the book :|

What?! Why would they do that?! Tell me more about your stay at the hospital. Why did you go there in the first place?

I'm in a hurry, but all I need to say right now is...

Angelina Jolie as Lisa Rowe is one of the best performances I've ever seen in my entire life.

And I am not being bias, because even though I am an Angie fan, I'm still a little, okay a lot, lost about whatever happened to her acting. It's really sad to see someone like her waste away :(

I love the book Girl, Interrupted. Susanna Kaysen is a hero of mine.

And if I were a famous person, I would be Dorothy Parker ♥

Have you seen Jennifer Jason Leigh's Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle?

I'm not sure if I'd go as far as saying her performance in this movie was one of the best I've ever seen because I've seen a lot of great performances, but I definitely think her Oscar was well deserved, and it was the best of her career.

I only have Nina Gordon's version of The End Of The World. It's not the same thing but... Listen to it anyway.
