For what it's worth...listentoreasonJuly 9 2004, 07:04:07 UTC
I like your new stuff better. It's relaxed.
I'm kinda fed up with my poetry. It's a fun mental exercise to fit as much meaning in a small space as possible, and I love kennings. But it doesn't seem to be worth the effort for the reader, so... my sorry skaldic ass is marooned.
Here's a sort of kenning for you. I'm sick of Leann Rimes.
I guess I ought to leave the poeting to the professionals. Wilco and Nick Cave and Elvis Costello...
I'm tired on every level right now, it's affecting perception of everything. I have a sort of job interview thing in an hour and I can't wait for the hour to pass.

g'luck on your job interview though i'm sure it's past by now. Hope this coming week is less rough . . .
and don't stop writing poetry. poetry ain't meant to be written with a reader in mind anyway. I write for no one but myself. If the others get you, that's great but if not, well i suspect we all live in our separate universes anyway.

"I suspect we all live in our separate universes anyway."
How utterly miserable. And thus, intuitively true. Ah well, if I'm by myself, I'll try to be good company.
Thanks for the well-wishes. I did well on the job interview. Unless circumstances change, I'll be making exactly 3x more money than I know what to do with. It's not spiritual enlightenment, but I'll take it.

those lines kick my ass moreso everytime I read them. I keep imagining the person in your picture (you said Dylan, I wasn't sure if you meant Dylan Thomas or Bob Dylan, although I'm leaning towards the latter, but I really have no idea what either looks like) saying those lines. Hayseed would be involved, and a fun fun drawl.

3x more than you know what to do with! That's great. I can't even concieve of suchlike things in my present impoverished existence. And knowing you, it probably means doing something you like to do (though you didn't mention that bit or not) cos you have already quite a thing going with the designing of games and everything.
Dylan, of course is Bob Dylan, with whom I have been obsessed for years. I tend to have a Dylan journal entry rant every few months or so. He's all about gutters and hayseed and being kicked black and blue in the ribs. His love songs are so sweetly malicious.
But of these things the man is the master. I can only muster poor imitations.

Congratulations. You're the first person to post poetry on your livejournal and provoke a positive reaction from me. It can be done! I'll have a good day now, I know it.
