By the way Singapore, you have tough stances on a lot of things. Crime. Vandalism. Drugs. And rightfully so, those are things that can be very harmful to the fabric of a society.I don't entirely agree - over hard punishments can also be harmful. For one, I don't agree with the death penalty for drug trafficking for example. But gah, let's not get into politics here haha

Yeah, the caning and death penalty stuff are things I'm on the fence about.
That's the problem with street performance too is that there's no standardization. Some are glorified beggars, some are extremely talented. It's hard to distinguish yourself when you tell people you're a street performer.
Are you going to be able to make it on Friday?! :)
I know! But sometimes it just seems very hard to find a busker on our streets without an obvious physical disability. My favourite is the guy with the guitar at the Shaw underpass though I'm not sure if he's still around after Ion opened and all that
ps, I now realize it's a little strange that I picked up so strongly on the death penalty but during that week there was a 19yo on death row. Being about that age, it definitely hit me. It wasn't covered widely in the local news but more heavily in alternative media (internet) and I'm glad to say that at least for now, we're waiting for his appeal.
I'm actually pretty clueless about how much alcohol and cigarettes cost here 'cause I don't drink/smoke, though I do know that they're expensive =p maybe the same brand might be cheaper elsewhere on the island? =p
They're too expensive. (Although, we're doing a secret Santa game in the cast of the show and someone brought me a little bottle of scotch! My secret santa loves me!)
