Saw it a few days ago. I wasn't able to watch it at midnight on the day of because I had class/work all in one day or the day after. Boo, but at least I still saw it within the first week. Anyway, I'll make this short.
YAY:
LOVE LOVE LOVED Umbridge's office. And by love, I obviously mean hate because I think cats are disgusting and they irritate me, but you get my drift.
Umbridge and Luna were both pretty spot-on, I felt.
I love how they did recaps through the Daily Prophet. It added such a nice touch and helped condense the heavy book that OotP is.
The scene with Trelawney and McGonagall embracing in front of Hogwarts. Broke my heart.
Rupert Grint. LOVE this boy. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
All the DA scenes. The Room Of Requirement was SUPER cool, and while it sort of felt like this elitist/cool kids club, at the same time it was so endearing to see all these kids wanting to learn outside the classroom to fight for a cause they believed in. Loves it! :)
BELLATRIX LESTRANGE. LOVED Helena!
I know he's Voldemort. But damn it, Ralph Fiennes is hot. LOL.
Harry's breakdown when Sirius fell through the veil. Dan Radcliffe overall was okay in this movie. There were no emo breakdowns (read: PoA) and his anger wasn't too extreme like I personally felt it was in the book, but it was still captured through his frustrated faces and whatnot.
The scene in the common room where Seamus and Harry have that heated argument in front of everyone. And when Rupert comes in, all bff-style, to stop it. I totally dug that scene.
I also love Arthur Weasley. I want that man to be my dad.
Uh, the twins are kinda . . . hot. I SAID IT!
NAY:
Alan Rickman as Snape is one of my top favorites . . . and he had all of four lines? Sad. :(
I'm kinda indifferent about this, but at the same time, I felt like the Weasley twins should have SAID something after they had their grand finale scene via their lines in the book.
I'm really sad that we didn't get a better look at the young Marauders in Snape's memory. I felt like that scene was SO rushed, and I was really looking forward to the depiction of young!Sirius, all hot and reckless and devil-may-care style (imagines . . . young Johnny Depp, MMMM)
I don't think I'll ever get used to Dumbledore played by someone who's not Richard Harris. And while Dumbledore was supposed to distance himself from Harry in this book, it just felt really cold more than distant in the movie. :(
Personally, I thought the final fight scene was really short.
Overall? Totally left the theater feeling satisfied. I've learned never to expect the best or read the books right before the movie (ever since PoA) or I'll never really enjoy the movie as much as I want to. And I've been hearing from a lot of people that they think it's the best out of the five, and I can totally see that. Others think it's the worst out of the five, and I can see that as well. For me, I'll think some are better than others, but I don't have a favorite. I mean, it's Harry Potter. All the movies are a separate entity from the book, and when they stand by themselves, they're always still going to be fantastic.
Can't wait to go watch this again! :D
