Alcohol, Life, The Universe, and Everything.

Most weeks I spend at least one night away. I book a B&B through laterooms trying to pick something cheap and unusual. There have been some fantastic successes and a few miserable nights half built dumps. I will carry on doing it, because event the dumps have been entertaining and even educational ( Read more... )

Oh I've been wondering where you've been!!

I have rarely been drinking these days (not that I ever have TONS, but still) and instead, when I'm stressed or feel the "need a drink" thing, I take to yoga, eating well, and meditations. Makes a lot of sense.

I still read here all of the time, but I was feeling a bit inwardly lost and not sure of being able to say anything coherent. Life is slowly sorting itself out and settling down. When I feel short of the energy and time to keep on top of the basics in life, writing in a blog seems a bit of an indulgence.

Anaesthetics times three and two cycles of chemotherapy last year forced me to give up alcohol completely and, to my surprise, I haven't missed it at all.
When I did try a sip of wine mid last year (between 2nd and 3rd ops and just before the start of chemo) I found it so strong it was almost foul!
Now, if we have visitors, I have to remember to offer people an alcoholic drink because having a drink is no longer normal for me, either.
Nice to see you posting again :)

I have a friend who went through the same experience. She kept on drinking champagne all of the way through. It was part of her way of committing herself to life and living. (She was also a deeply committed Christian.) It really worked for her.

When we are in Northern Ireland some of the people that we know belong to various temperance organisations. Not offering alcohol is not something to bother about.

I may not be here often but I do think of you quite frequently and I wish you well.

Take care

Robin
