Milton Friedman, the man who coined the phrase "there's no such thing as a free lunch" has just passed away. I never realized that these words came out the mouth of an economist. i don't have any feeling towards his death, only wished I had known who said the famous phrase earlier

Then you must think funny. I always thought it was pretty damn obvious. "There's no such thing as a free lunch" basically means that you have to put in work/effort to acquire any resource. It's impossible to gain anything without cost (and even if it's not costing YOU anything, it's still costing SOMEONE ELSE something). That's pretty basic economics.
