I once gave a woman a number for a taxi after she refused treatment for a leg injury caused by a run-in with some police officers trying to detain her. She asked me to help her outside to meet the cab. A nurse saw us and told us to wait while she got a wheelchair. The woman told me, "They're not gonna get me a wheelchair." The cops had just forced her to out of one when she refused treatment, and she could not walk on her own. I said, "Just wait a bit." I sat down and closed my eyes. When I opened them again, she was staggering out the door, clinging to the wall to support herself. A security guard said, "Do you want a chair?" She said, "I WANT TO GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" And stumbled outside, crying.
The guards stood around laughing about it afterwards.
I tried to take a nap.
And I've had this pain in my pelvic region ever since. It hasn't killed me yet, but that's the nature of karma, if you believe that kind of shit.
