Curmudgeon!

It sucks that my first post in quite a while will be a rant, but so be it.

For those that know, I spent money taking bartending courses so I could learn the trade and perhaps get a job doing said bartendering.

In fairness, they did warn us that a man becoming a bartender was difficult, but at the time, with all  was learning, I couldn’t see how my ( Read more... )

Its annoying and yet SOOO true. I normally hate female bartenders myself. They get hired so that they can put a rake in someones face and help tip out everyone else more cause they did so. Its pretty much the same way in my small town of Macomb. Boomer had to work his way up to a bartender via being a barback and a doorguy for a long time.

Sorry to hear your not doing well in that field of life. Hope to see you at GenCon. I got a new phone, if you wanna text me your number. My other phone completely died and I couldn't get my contact list off of it.

1. Look into caterers. I've seen plenty of guys at weddings.

2. Mt. Doom is open 4 biz. You always have a job here. :)

3. Is there a Chip 'n Dales around here anywhere?

1. That's a good idea, and one I might look into once I've gotten back into the swing of things.

2. Yay! Mt. Doom is totally a labor of love. I have a lot of fun mixing concoctions for people at the parties :D

3. I'm not sure, but I don't see myself as Chip n' Dales material. o_O

Have you considered looking for a job at a full-service bar in a restaurant? My brother does that part time, and he loves it.

No. Like Velo. :P It's a fancy wine bar/bistro. They let Steve make me a chocolate martini even thought it's not on the menu!

Any place called a 'bistro' is going to demand a bit more of a resume than Sasha has right now, most likely. Talented and trained, yes. Experienced, no. Though he can use pretty much anybody you would find on my floor as a reference. :)

Definitely go back to the school for the free brush-ups; and talk to the rep at the school about job placement. Also, take advantage of the training bars, even if at first it is barbacking or busing tables... it's still the experience and getting to know the industry; getting to know the day to day ( ... )
