hydrogen peroxide

Jan 15, 2008 07:22

I've been cleaning my ears/jewelry with hydrogen peroxide for some time now and never saw the harm in it.
But I figured I might as well ask around because it seems as if there's a lot of stuff that fucks up your ears.
Any comments? good or bad?

BAD. Harsh, drying, completely unnecessary.

Yep. Peroxide won't be doing any good at all. Especially for just regular cleaning of stretched ears! The only possible situation in which it could be useful is with an infection and even then, very limited use (and there are still much better things to use).

All I do for 'aftercare' regarding stretched lobes is the odd jojoba oil massage and taking my plugs out in the shower to wash them.

Also, just noticed that you mentioned cleaning jewellery with it too. Definitely don't use it on acrylic, it'll break it down and ruin them. Same for silicone, and I wouldn't use it on organics either.

if there has been no harm to you using it regularly then maybe you have super awesome ears and shouldn't worry about it???
i definitely wouldn't recommend it though...considering what it does to your hair i cant imagine using it on your poor ears...it might affect them big time after a while??
soap works great, try that :)

NOOOOOOO. no no no no no. Buy some jojoba and spoil your ears, make them soft and wonderfully happy. I would suggest jojoba or emu oil, hydrogen peroxide is so bad for your ears :/. I'm not trying to sound mean or flame you, the thought of hydrogen peroxide just makes me cringe.
