00g?

What is the traditional accepted MM of 00g? 10mm, right?

I see everything from 9mm to 10mm, and it makes me wonder. I just got a pair of BEAUTIFUL 00g spring green crystal dichro in today, and while I am absolutely in love with them, they popped right in. I'm a 0g. My caliper says they are 8.8mm.  Trying to caliper silicone isn't easy, let me tell ( Read more... )

unfortunately, gauges are a rather obsolete way of measuring. they are not consistent, and they obviously don't increase at a constant rate. the best thing you can do is caliper everything, and don't buy 00ga jewelry without knowing what its millimeter conversion is.

Very true. I"m happy with these though, saves me from buying a 9mm to "Walk me through" to the 10mm.

Though it seriously makes me want to collect every damn peice of crystal dichro I can find, thats for sure.

Technically, using the AWG I think 00g is around 9.2-9.5mm. Kaos do 9.2mm 00g as far as I know, most glass companies choose either 9mm or 10mm, some do both.

Show pictures for the thin-ness! Downsizing and restretching helps most people, even by just 2 or 3 sizes.

I"ll get my SO to try to take a picture of the thin later and I"ll make a separate post or edit this one. Its really worrying me. I want 1/2 like mad (No, no, not just because I have violet opal waiting for me!) but I'm just wondering if it'll ever "go". :/

9mm, 10mm, and anything in between are all sold as 00g. Annoying, huh?

Truly. At least these will hold my hand to get to 10mm, and saved me a bit of bucks buying a 9mm!

Your ears don't look anywhere near thin enough to stop stretching yet.

00g can be anywhere between 9 and 10mm, which is very annoying. T'is why I prefer the metric stretching measurements.

They just feel so thin. We'll see, steady as she goes, I guess. Time to start selling my 0g and find some new stuff!

I prefer metric myself, but not everyone it seems has a caliper or knows exactly the MM of their jewelry. Unfortunately.

your ear looks exactly (well, almost) like mine, and I'm at 00g (9mm). I think you make it if you go REALLLY slow. But just listen to your body. And btw, those earrings are AWESOME.
