I've been making small posts on tumblr during my Princess Tutu watch, and then it occurred to me that I should post on lj.
So, thoughts mostly from the first three episodes of season 2. (Warning for discussion of psychological abuse in the episode 2 section.)
okay so you know how Drosselmeyer keeps on being like “One prince doesn’t need two princesses!”
a part of me is just like
have you heard of polyamory
i mean it probably wouldn’t work in this specific situation but

So one of the great thing about having such a caring protagonist is how Ahiru responds to Rue. Like. Her feelings are often similar to my feelings.
“Despite being a crow, you have been born into an ugly human body. And only I and the prince in the story can truly love a pitiful person like you.”
Okay officially hating Rue’s dad now. (I mean I know he’s the Big Bad BUT NO REALLY HE IS AWFUL MY POOR BABY.)
And earlier in season one, it seemed like she was okay with Mytho being heartless, because it’s not like he’d really love her with one. And then the heart shard of “love” was directed at Princess Tutu instead of her. :(((( Now with the reveal of her having tainted the shard with raven’s blood, it’s like she’s felt along that the only way to get the Prince to love her is to alter everything he is.
(Also right before this line Rue had flashes to Ahiru being all Rue-chan sob. No wonder she was so confused about Ahiru wanting to be friends with her.)
Episode 3:
OMG Cat-sensei stop trying to marry adolescent girls! (And wait, he's against marrying a sloth. Like he was against marrying Goatette-sensei last season. Why is he cool with interspecies marriage when the other party is human - AND A STUDENT - but not when they're some other kind of animal?)
...Ahiru blushing at this pretty girl Freya and her hair. "I mean, of course the flowers are pretty! But that's not all..." Baby has a crush!
corrupted!Mytho attempting to seduce Freya is really creepy. "Your beautiful heart makes beautiful flowers bloom. If we put our abilities together, I'm sure we could make a kind of flower we've never seen before bloom." UH and then trapping her against the well and pulling her into a dance. And then the mind-whammy thing because the actual goal is to REMOVE HER HEART.
"Hurry up and become my prince and mine alone. The Prince who loves me alone." ....oh Rue. This is simultaneously disturbing and sad.
I knew that tiny child was somehow connected to Edel! The hair is too distinctive. ...made from bits of her that didn't burn away oh no.
Did. Did Fakir just jump up Mytho's pile of birds and tell him to pull himself together. ...oh hey it almost worked. Is he learning from Ahiru by trying emotional appeal the way Princess Tutu does?

- Rue-chan lets be friends!!
- Princess Kraehe is Rue-chan? Rue-chan why are you doing this?
- Seriously Rue-chan I am really concerned about you. Rue-chan this is not the right thing. Rue-chan!!!!!
- Season two premiere: I hope Rue-chan comes back to school soon.
