Watchmen:spoiler alert!
Soooo I just got back from the watchmen premiere and...
It sucked, it totally sucked, first act was pretty good actually, pretty much fell apart after that...sigh. zack snyder's "different but still good" story about how he changed the ending were utter bullshit (if you want details, ask via comment) and this film is as much a testament to his flaws as a director as it is to why people should take alan moore seriously when he says something is unfilmable. jacky earl haley, jeffery morgan and patrick wilson were great despite the awfulness, still not worth admission. the complete lack of supporting characters, save for those directly involved in the main plot of the film was probably the biggest flaw. why the hell are we supposed to care about sixteen million dead people if we've never met any of them? and don't get me started on all of the slow motion hi-def set pieces, the fight scenes were as hokey, posed and plastic as the rest of the film. I don't use the word 'soulless' very often, but that's exactly what we have been presented. that and a the nagging doubt that if as much time would have spent laboring over character development as was spent on billy crudup's CGI donkey dick that we might have had something great.
like most of hollywood's forays into four-color life, it was a dry handjob of an experience. :/
I'm gonna punch zack snyder in the dick if I ever see him in person.
