Back in my day, we didn't have windows, AND WE LIKED IT...
I can't really talk: part of the reason I have the monitor of the gods back home is the vast tracts of screen real-estate it offers.
Web design is a tricky business; above all, whatever you do, always check your code in both IE and Netscape. Neglecting one or the other is a sure path to frustration (Netscape is more rigid about enforcement; if you don't close your table tags right, some stuff could end up nonvisible).
Other than that, if you get stuck, give me a ring.
