Survey about sport fan behavior for research project.

Dec 06, 2004 14:26

I'm conducting a quick little survey among folks about fan behavior in sports for one of my classes. I'd be mighty appreciative if folks would consider taking it. It's not that long (5 questions, multiple choice), and hopefully won't take longer than 5 minutes. Feedback about the survey is appreciated as well! Thanks!

Take the survey! )

Before commenting, a question: what's the intent of the survey and its questions? In other words, is the data the goal, or is this a psychological study on framing, and the wording is key?

I'm just looking for general perceptions on sports fan behavior. Data is more what I'm looking for than anything else.

Thanks!

1. B

3. I'm gonna go with C here - I think some fans behave better, but some are markedly worse.
4. H - mostly because I think E and G and possibly F. Or, F leads to E and G.
5. E, C, D - B won't help because people will just drink more before they get into the park, and that starts the BS sooner. A sorta helps, but some fans aren't deterred by that kind of thing. I think atheletes need to realize just how lucky they are, and play like it. I also think fans need to act like polite adults instead of overgrown spoiled children.

4. H. Lack of shootings during riot situations. Alternately, lack of riot education. What are rioters thinking? THey probably think "What are all these rioters thinking? Why dont they [ed: haha] calm down?"
5. E, F: the entire world needs to get over professional sports

As for the alchohol, the problem is not drunks, the problem is rioters.

If there's a problem involving role models, the problem is that athletes are role models at all. Professional Athlete, as a role, is a shitty model. I am not speaking out against getting exercise or being healthy or strong, but being a professional athlete.

Regardless, riot people aren't trying to be like athletes when they riot. They just don't get it that being in a riot is just protecting people who break stuff. What are these people thinking? "I'm not a rioter, I'm just here trying to see the riot, but all these people are in my way."
