Migraine Relief

For years I've been suffering from migraines a few times a month. I was worried about getting pregnant, because I wouldn't be able to take any medication for them, but fortunately, I only got a few when I was pregnant, which was one of the few real upsides to being pregnant, physically. Now I seem to be free of them altogether, despite the fact ( Read more... )

I'm glad to hear that your migraines are abating. I tend to get the visual aura you describe, without getting the headaches. I occasionally get the headaches and have been so grateful only to have the visual disturbance-although that can be tough to deal with when driving, for example.
So, the little one is keeping you up nights. I know Rowan slept for 4 hours at a stretch even at a few days old-somehow, in retrospect, that doesn't seem so bad. I co-slept with him though, so, didn't have to get up. I just became conscious of him wanting to nurse and let him latch on and I was right back to sleep until the next time. By the time he needed changing I had usually managed a good 5-6 hours of sleep.
Have you any pictures of your little one to post? I keep meaning to put up some new pictures of Rowan-he turns 6 on Tuesday and he's so big now! He's nearly 4 feet tall and running all over the place, and usually singing! I know you will enjoy Quinn as he grows, it's such fun to see all the changes.

We've also been co-sleeping, but neither Quinn nor I has mastered the art of nursing while lying down. We can do it, but he never eats enough to go more than about an hour, and I haven't learned to really sleep through it. More often than not, I just sit up with him when he's hungry, so that he'll get enough to last at least a couple hours. Maybe we should be practicing the side-lying, because it does seem like the way to go if we could get good at it. On the other hand, when would I catch up on my LiveJournal if I wasn't up every few hours?

It sounds like Rowan is doing well. I'm beginning to learn just how delightful it is to watch them grow and change. It's like a whole new kind of being in love. Hope you guys have a good birthday celebration.

It really is a whole new kind of being in love, isn't it? I cannot imagine my life without Rowan, my life without being Rowan's mom. It's funny how the way I define myself has changed-without diminishing me as "Trish," just adding depth and perspective.
Perhaps if you practice the side-lying while awake you can make adjustments in your position that will become intuitive when you're half asleep? I am also a very light sleeper-so, for me, floating in and out of dreaming is a normal sleep pattern: I very well may have gotten less sleep than I remember because I often sleep only about 5 hours anyway.
