Fandom: Prince of Tennis Pairing: Tezuka/Ryoma Rating: Mild R Continuity: Manga; MAJOR SPOILERS for Genius 150/ep 68 and Genius 250-272. Notes: For bookshop. Fits conveniently into pillarchallenge, too - Centre Court.
I liked your use of news articles. It highlights their relationship and gives the necessary background information about the two players after Middle School. It's also formal, compared to the intimate tone between Tezuka and Ryoma. I liked how you incorporated what they're feeling with how other people treat them i.e. the news reporters during their practice game. The kiss was extremely well done. It's nice that the ending is ambiguous. It suggests that the couple might face a backlash, but it also leaves open the possibilities of a grand future featuring thousands of tennis games between the two lovers.
I am sitting here very literally clutching my heart.
I could not possibly feel more for this pairing, or love you more for writing them the way you do, than I do right at this moment. Oh, honey. Thank you so much. :((
Ryoma has never given up calling him captain, Tezuka thinks. It sounds too intimate for public, but he never says anything. I'm sure it's because he enjoys it secretly, because it's like this little kinky nickname between the two of them, but to the rest of the public, it sounds like this formal way of addressing him. :D ♥
Ryoma is countering everything he has, pushing him higher with every step and shot. This is their tennis, and if they have ever had limits then Tezuka has forgotten them. YES. YES EXACTLY. God, I can never get enough of their tennis and they make each other evolve. :(((
"If this is a joke, it's in very poor taste," commented one spectator, who did not wish to be named. I'm sure that if there are any comments that were disapproving of their public display of affection, Fuji and Inui will be happy to team up and kill them take care of them

DID YOU SEE kungfooqueen's ART ON AJA'S POST. It is like. It is like a books-and-kissing metaphor for the whole series. Their whole relationship, with the being above each other and going higher and ending up together. God, I die of love.
YES YES YES. AH, I LOVE THESE BOYS. Ryouma sleeping on Tezuka's shoulder during plane flights! Tezuka staying stoically awake and ignoring jetlag! Ryouma angsting over Tezuka's shoulder! NETKISSING ON CENTRE COURT IN FRONT OF THE ROYAL BOX!!! "The pillars of Japanese tennis" AHAHAHAHA. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
One nitpick: there is no final set tiebreak in Wimbledon (or the French, or the Australian; only the US). Instead, they keep playing until somebody wins by two games. So you could have the score be 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5), 5-7, 11-9. Or something like that. (Also, note that when reporting the tiebreak score, only the lower number is given.) Looking back over this, it strikes me as horribly petty, but I only do it because I care, you know? If I didn't adore the fic, I wouldn't bother. So, er, don't hate me? D:
Also, I forgot to mention: it is my birthday today, and although this wasn't intended for me, it is nonetheless a marvelous gift. Especially for someone frantically putting the final touches on her Master's thesis that is due Monday. So thank you! ♥♥♥♥
la;jksdf;ljkasdf how can you hate Wimbledon? It is the greatest of the Grand Slams. I love how all the others are "The US Open" "The Australian Open" "The French Open" but this is just "The Championships at Wimbledon." They're the one that really counts. There's really nothing quite like it. Also, I must admit I like the tennis played on grass the best. And the amazingly well-orchestrated pulling out of the tarps every time it rains (which is, like, every couple of hours) is just one of the coolest things ever to watch. Like watching Zambonis on ice rinks. :D
I never really mention my birthday in advance; feels too much like fishing for giftfic, and since I'm not capable of reciprocating, I just take any fic that happens to be written around then as an unexpected gift. Even if it is clearly marked as someone else's.
I don't think I really have words to describe how much I love this fic. ♥ Just, just, it's Tezuka, and Ryoma, and I adore your characterizations of both of them, then the tennis, and the end. Very believable, very real, very them. And now I stop before I degenerate into random keyboard smashing for how happy reading this made me.

See, you say that and then the fandom explodes. Not that I had anything to do with that.

Happy birthday! You should have said; I would have written you something.
Ryoma's reaction to the pillar thing is very much "..." because who cares about Japanese tennis, buchou? We're conquering the world.
