I started crying about halfway through. I don't have much I can really think to say except ♥♥♥ and I'd parrot about half of it back to you if I tried for individual lines. It's perfect and amazing and deals with a lot of issues that I've been thinking about with them for awhile now.

This is gorgeous, like everything you write.

when i read this after being awake for almost twenty-four hours i was way too exhausted to do any kind of justice to it in the comments, but i had this vague idea of mentioning all the breathtakingly beautiful moments, only i realise now that that would be extremely space-consuming in your comments without being particularly good feedback. so i will quote you the lines i wrote to put about it in my recs page: everybody in the comments to this story says that they cried, which isn't surprising in the least - it's meticulously thorough and pulls no punches, wringing every bit of angst out of its plot. it's strikingly, breath-holdingly dramatic and painfully beautiful at points as well. ryoma's narration is matter-of-fact and weary, quietly heartbroken in a way that's entirely in character and all too believable. even when he's being fairly stupid, his longing for tezuka is palpable.

his hopelessness and wistfulness and his lingering over the flashbacks were just aching and the scene where he showed up at tezuka's door - !!!!!! ( ... )
