Ifni was kind enough to include the rebuke email that was not sent to me.

Normally, I don't get sucked sucked into these false positives, and I apologize to those who use me as a source of general de-bunking goodness.

Actually, this was an email sent by some undergrad, who harvested stanford emails from Stanford.Who and then used the email servers, against standing policy, to email blast everyone. He's being investigated and may be kicked out. He will certainly lose all his stanford email privileges. The "Coalition" is, so far as I can tell, NOT a sanctioned Stanford club, or group, or anything. Just this "grass roots" activist who did something incredibly, incredibly stupid ( ... )

To be perfectly clear - there is one mention I can find on the Stanford Web about a "Student Coalition for Marriage Equality", associated with the Queer/Straight Alliance which is a recognized campus organization, as a co-sponsor for an on-campus rally tomorrow at noon in White Plaza - even so, this fool with the email blast doesn't even have the name right.

Also, please note that he specifically says "Stanford hasn't done it yet so let's all sign a petition and tell the Provost what to do."

He's an idiot. Don't get sucked in.
