here's one thing about being the mother of a five year old girl: boy, is your vacuum dust glittery.

tonight our salad greens came entirely from the garden. my favorite is the tiny, tender chard. every vegetable in my refrigerator has a big bite taken out of it. my kid is so weird and thrilling.

i'm reading City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare ( Read more... )

i just can't bring myself to read it, though, after all her plagiarism. though one would hope a professional editor would put a stop to some of that, at least.

do you refer to the buffy quotes? i think i read her response to the accusations, and it was all affronted. i read some of her hp stuff, but not all, and it was before i had delved into the buffyverse. i got burned out on her internet rockstar-ness, that's for sure. i'm not seeing anything that i recognize as obviously plagiarized so far - tho there is some total cliche, but that's to be expected in the genre... also, one character is wearing a pin that says "still not king". the cover is embarrassing to carry around, some dude's tattooed golden chest...

buffy was just the tip of the iceberg, iirc. i never read any of her hp stuff, though, because it was all about the draco, right? and i am pretty much the opposite of that :)

Man oh man, you should make a list of all your teen vampire books so far, and I will read them. And love them.

oh, twist my arm a little! here's what we've read so far:

twilight - stephenie meyer - this one was great, but at least 100 pages too long. pacific northwest vampires! you know sunshine is no problem here! i hear the sequel, new moon, is excellent. stoked.

tantalize - cynthia leitich smith - vampires/restaurants/austin tx, mixed review.

blue bloods - melissa de la cruz - nyc teen socialite vamipres - totally readable and fun, designer labels mentioned at least every other paragraph.

i tried reading the silver kiss, and just couldn't. the vampire kept chuckling softly to himself, and it was really irritating. i mean, come on.

dag, I've been wanting to read some PZB, but I never have. Where should I start?

I've never even heard of Near Dark, but it is now a total priority. Esp because Nathan Petrelli appears to be in it. Oooooh!
