I'm embarrassed to admit that after a modicum of wine, I was actually crying over the bit in the first Temeraire book where the little courier dragon gets killed. Anyone else up for confessions?

I've not read that particular book, but I cry at that sort of thing anyway, regardless of whether I've been drinking :)

I'm really not sure whether or not to recommend the books. On the one hand, she's a terrible writer: atrocious prose, characterisation in a range from superficial to non-existant, and world-building that fails reality/common sense checks several times a chapter. On the other hand: adventure-stories-with-dragons-squeee!
