Girly Question

Ok ladies,

Has anyone tried Seasonale bc? I am intrigued, but the concept of only bleeding four times a year seems a bit unnatural.

My obgyn says it's perfectly safe and that there is no reason to have your period at all ever. You can adjust any brand of BC pills and never have one.

I am not on the pill though so my opinio is sort of besides the point

You don't have to be on Seasonale to skip your period. If you're on a monophasic pill you could try it this month. I'm on Yasmin & I've skipped my period on many occasions. ^_^ You can try to skip on any pill really, but if you're on a triphasic pill you might not be successful and wind up with breakthrough bleeding, which can last a while sometimes.

BC pills were originally supposed to be continuous, allowing for a period every 3 months(like Seasonale) but in the original planning stages they realized that women automatically freaked out and assumed they were pregnant if they didn't get a period that month. In theory, having less periods is good for you and lessens your risk of certain cancers but I forget how. :D

Is Yasmin working out ok for you? If so I may give that a try. I wanted to wait and see what your opinion was first. :)

I really love it. I've been on OrthoTriCyclen, Loestrin 1.5/30, Lo/Ovral, & Estrostep FE, and this is the only one that doesn't give me side effects that I can't deal with. Actually, I don't seem to have any side effects at all, which is just weird! I feel like me again, instead of a mood swingin' bitch with water weight like I was on other pills. heh. My sister went on Yasmin and hated it though. Finding the right pill is so hit or miss. :/

In regards to your other comment- the patch doesn't agree with a lot of people. I didn't even go near it because it's got the same type of progestin as Lo/Ovral, and lo/ovral is by far the worst pill I've ever been on. I figured out what level of estrogen is good for me, I just had to figure out which progestin wasn't going to fuck with me. My body apparently likes drospirenon, which is patented by the makers of Yasmin and according to clinical studies, may help with symptoms of PMDD. It sure as hell cut my PMS down to only a couple days, which is awesome. :D

Oh wow. Yeah a while back we alked briefly about this and I wrote down the address and # of that Drs office you reccommended. If my primary care physician doesn't take good care of me IU'll be heading there if at all possible!

This stuff is so complicated. Mention BC and allll the girls come out! ^_^ I need to maintain notes of which ones I've tried because I tend to forget. My dr tried to put me on Mircette again and that totally screwed me up. I had forgotten I tried it already!

I agree lo/ovral was terrible for me. I was a basket case. I hate PMS, I'd be happy to get rid of it when I can. So ucky and ouchy!

You are so helpful! :)

Yeah, I'm on Depo, so... I don't bleed at all. All the research/midwives I've talked to confirm the fact that it's a-okay to bleed seasonally/never (depending on what you're taking) but that, well, most girls find it unnatural and freak out.

Personally, I don't get that. But then, the whole reason I started using BC was to control/lessen my periods... I had rrrreeeally bad periods before Depo, having tried everything else. To me, the joy of Not Bleeding the greatest.

I'm thinking about trying it, but right now I'm happy with the "Patch" although I should give it a try since I tend to get migraines around my period. However, there is a part of me that believes that bleeding may in fact be a defense mechanism against bacteria since your uterus is considered a "sterile" organ that opens up into a "non sterile" environment. Kind of like how saliva cleanses your mouth and reduces the bacterial count and mucus in your lungs traps bacteria and is expectorated. Probably sounds crazy, but I think there is a functional reason for bleeding...not that I'm fond of it!

I think I must be the only person that the patch sent into a major freak out. I must be overly sensitive or something. O_O
