That really sucks man. That's not a feeling you forget, so I know what you're going through.

It almost sounds like what I did to Helen a week after going out though. It doesn't seem like you weren't right for each other. I know I shouldn't be saying, "but what if" at this point though.

I think whatever happens will happen because it's the path of least resistance, and after time you'll realize things can only get better.

P.S. Matt's seem to have a bad track record. You should stay off them for a while.
