my anti-paralysis trick includes lists, but ones where things are broken down into a lot of tiny steps and ideally have a time frame.
i realize that putting it all into 4 steps can just be an emphatic literary technique, but if you seriously are feeling paralyzed, try breaking all of those things down further. e.g. "3a. figure out a time when I can talk with S. 3b. make sure he is free then too 3c. brainstorm some ideas of specific things i want to say 3d. make sure i have some support people ready after the conversation 3e.get a good night's sleep first 3f.do the deed 3g.take care of myself in the following specific ways..." or whatever. that's just one possibility, obviously, but that's the system that works for me.
These are all very good things. They're all going to bring you freedom and happiness. Look forward to it, even though it's going to be a horrible job leaving your partner.
Think of it this way. "May the bridges I burn light my way."
I apologize, that's almost as close as I can get to enlightened.
I think that's a beautiful quote. And I agree with the above stated. That is one hell of a to-do list. But you're going to do it and you're going to come out on top. Feel better...
