Birthday Party
I had this kickass birthday party last night. It was SHINee themed, so a few of my guests participated in a SHINee cocktail competition. I assigned them each a member and I was really really surprised that they came up with such awesome drinks, so I'm going to write about them here and I'll have to ask my guests for more detailed recipes later. Dammit I really wish I had got pics. They were so surprisingly beautiful.
Key - Key was the winning cocktail. My friend Pari but a crazy amount of thought into making it perfect and gorgeous. It was served in like this pink margarita glass that said "Another year of fabulous!" and had little pink fur around the bottom. It had pink sugar on the rim and an umbrella. I don't remember what exactly the drink was made out of. It involved strawberry, grenadine, and just lots of pink. It was so yummyyyyy.
Minho - Minho was the runner up cocktail and it was made by my friend Kie. It was served in a little boyish sportsy paper cup, and the drink involved red bull, Bacardi 151, and pineapple orange juice. The strong flavors were covered up, so like Minho you suspected nothing much from looking at it or even drinking it.. there were three of us judges, but I know that I particularly gave it high points because I swear it tasted like liquid Minho. Like sweet sweat, in a somehow good way. Kie called the cocktail "the sore loser".
Onew - Third place went to Onew. Not everyone will get this, because my friend Jessho was working to impress me particularly I think. She made the drink related to my Bonded and roleplay versions of Onew - it was dark. The appearance was particularly impressive. It was this adorable tiny bowl with deep red drink that kind of swirled and reminded me vaguely of evil noodles. It was something like a strawberry margarita... it tasted SO GOOD.
Taemin - Tied for fourth place, my friend Adam didn't know much about SHINee at all but he did appropriate thinking to make a relevant Taemin cocktail. He based it around Taemin's change from appearing as so cutesy to getting a little more.... grown up? It looked as simple as red koolaid. It tasted great, really heavy on the cherry flavor, and there was a surprise cherry in the bottom. Let's just say the words "pop your cherry" were in there and.. it was very good.
Jonghyun - My friend noona did the Jonghyun, which was a really cute and awesome drink. It was totally blinging, being gold in color and having little gold flakes too. It was small (likejong), you just took it in a shot. The taste was really unique, just like Jonghyun, and had a spicy kick to it.
I just felt like sharing about this because honestly I had no idea when I made the cocktail competition that it would go so well. My friends put so much effort into it and I feel extremely touched. Literally every drink that was put in front of me was worthy of winning, I was glad that I wasn't judging alone. I'd much like to do something like that again.
So that's that. Seriously, it was just the best party I could imagine. I worked really hard preparing for it and I'm so relieved and overjoyed that it paid off times ten. Pari brought me this really yummy cake just among the other great food that people brought in. We played games like Scattergories, Fruits Basket, Apples to Apples, Taboo, and Pop up Pirate among others. I had worked really hard on this video quiz thing that.. at least I hope everyone had fun playing. I wasn't able to play since I made it, but just gathering points and watching everyone was so incredibly fun that I wish I'd worked even harder and made it longer. The only downfall of the night (other than the typical next day shame after every night where I drink with friends) was my missing kitty Mal. But we found him, he's fine, and he's crawling around me right now.
I feel pretty elated. Dis is one beautiful hangover. B)
