And that you had to watch all those horrible things from your window in heaven... The other horrible thing is that today's Pip's birthday and nobodyisgoingtowanttobearoundeachotherbecausewe' ( Read more... )

The demon had impeccable timing, there was no doubt. During a lull in the day he stopped by the clinic to check in on the little pirate.

For torment, of course. Anything to make a bad situation worse, that was his calling. Except he saw her there in the bed and began to question if he really had to work at all. Humans were so good at doing these things themselves.

"Hello, pirate." he said softly.

"What's this then? Scurvy? Too much rum?" he said as he stepped in. His lips curled into a sly grin, then he looked at the chair available for guests and waved his hand to replace it with a more comfortable wing chair. "Hazards of being a buccaneer, right?"

"The latter it seems." she said looking over at him with huge dilated eyes.

"Booty that is cursed is something of an occupational hazard."

"Who cursed your booty, pet?"

"It was cursed before it was mine. I can only assume it was cursed before Walter lifted it as well."

"Well, you know denizens of Hell. Talk, talk, talk. More than passing at chaos. Prey on the good, we do."

He pulled out the flask/cigarette holder she had given him and extracted a cigarette that he pressed between his lips but didn't light.

"And we're all very good at making people think it was their fault. Did you know that?"

"I suppose that would be a useful talent to have if that were to be your line of work."

"Oh, it is." he agreed. "The best way to cause strife is through guilt, and the best way to get to that is to make it seem as if it were your choice to begin with. Mothers have that down pat. They'd make lovely agents of Hell, the lot of them."
