Taking a moment of silence for the demise of your poor workhorse G5.

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this right now.

While on one hand that's quite, quite lame, on the other:

- HD's intact, yes?
- The Mac Pros are unspeakably gorgeous and absurdly powerful.
- I <3 the Intel procs they've switched to. (Though the iMacs do use a slightly different one than the Pros.) Did the G5 do Leopard? I can't recall.

So sorry to hear this.

I know that a few years ago I switched to iMacs for my ProTools use. I can get a nice 24" iMac with a second monitor for much cheaper than the Mac Pro and to be honest it performs just as well for 99.5% of the work I do. There are very few instances where I really need a tower any longer. The same may be true for you. Previously I'd been using a G5 tower.

I give you large Hugs and hope you did not lose anything on the computer that can not be gotten back.

I am so fearful of my work computer having death too any time I hear a sound I cringe
