At least one winner of the night

Right now, the Cubs are loosing (PAINFULLY) to the Dodgers. And earlier, the two VP candidates battled it out on stage in the first and only debate. And while Palin proved she can be confident while delivering the same prepared comments over and over (a stark contrast to her interviews), Biden had a few "Oh Snap!" moments he dished out. Tomorrow ( Read more... )

LOL I'd LOVE to try those cupcakes. And yeah, she went overboard with the Maverick word...I was like, shut up with the maverick thing already! One major difference between Palin and Biden that I noticed: It almost seemed like Palin knew and embraced her role, and played it well (the role of VP and SUPPORTER of the presidential candidate). There were more than a few times when I felt Joe Biden forgot he was the VP candidate and stumped like he was running for the number one slot. He barely mentioned Obama by name, even, and there seemed to be a lot of "I" and not a whole lot of "WE." By the end of the debate, I think Palin did a FAR better job of promoting herself not only as a good candidate for the position, but as a qualified part of the TEAM we are voting for ( ... )

Once again, it amazes me that we can read or watch the exact same event in politics, and come up with exact opposite interpretations. I think that Palin and Biden focused a lot on attacking McCain (in Biden's case) or defending him (Palin) because McCain, I feel, had more riding on the debate. His VP choice had a series of near-laughable interviews with various news sources. A lot of people were fed up with her, and would be amazed if she didn't fall off the stage. And it wasn't just the crazy liberals who were offended by her interview blunders. Kathleen Parker of the National Review (read: uber conservative columnist) said that "if BS were currency, Palin could bailout Wall Street herself." Um, ouch. Peggy Noonan (Regan's speech writer, WSJ columnist) has been going off on what an embarrassment Palin has been, and I know that I've read many other Republican pundits call for her to resign and back out of the VP test ( ... )
