I really like those blog posts that detail the day in the life of a mama and baby, so I figured I'd do my own. Now that I'm officially soon going back to work, I want to remember all these little details.
9am - Oliver is awake. He slept straight from 8pm to 9am, which he's never done before. Mom and Dad are elated. Josh gets up with him, changes his diaper and gives him an 8oz bottle. Mom rolls over and goes back to sleep for a bit.
10am - Josh comes to wake me up since he needs to go to work. I go downstairs and Josh has moved the ottoman so it's blocking the stairs since Oliver kept trying to climb up them. We discuss our imminent need to buy baby gates and are we SURE nobody got up with him last night? I throw his diapers into the wash. Josh goes to get ready for work and I give Oliver his breakfast - 1.5 waffles and half a banana. I eat the other half a banana and 1.5 waffles myself and tidy the kitchen while he's eating.
10:30-11:45 - Oliver creates chaos in the living room. He is fascinated by the little box we keep his burp clothes/bibs in, and likes to empty it out. Not a problem. He's ALSO fascinated my laptop cords, so that had to go away. I half watched an episode of Quantum Leap, and he paused every so often to watch it too.
He eventually started getting that glazed look so we "snuggled" (ie: I tried to snuggle and he used me as a jungle gym) for a bit on the couch.
11:45 - Nap time. I took him upstairs, changed his diaper (disposables today since I'm behind on the wash), and read him "Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What do you See?" I lay him in the crib, give him his blankie, his little bear and his glow worm, and turn on his crib projector. I tell him I love him and leave, he snuggles into his blankie.
I walk straight from his bedroom to the bathroom, where I hop into the shower. I get dressed and by the time I come downstairs he's asleep.
I put the diapers on a rinse cycle and settle in to watch another episode of Quantum Leap.
1pm-3pm - I put the diapers in the dryer and throw towels into the wash. I dig around in the kitchen to find SOMETHING to make for lunch, end up finding frozen tortellini. Cook those while washing bottles and sippies. Tidy the house, rotate wash, watch tv, fart around online, wait for Oliver to wake up.
3pm - He's up!
I change his diaper and we go downstairs where I give him a 6oz bottle. I then reheat the tortellini and throw some sauce on them. He eats about a million for lunch.
I have no idea why he has mad scientist hair all of a sudden. After his super late lunch, I lather him with sunscreen and get him dressed. I may overdo it with the sunscreen but I'd rather have a greasy baby than a burned baby.
3:45ish - We head down to the pool. Normally we walk, but it was too flipping hot out today (93 degrees), so we drove. We splished, we splashed, Oliver made a baby friend. After swimming we had a quick snack then headed home.
5pm - Home, I get him changed and lay him down for his evening catnap.
5:40pm - I hear him start to snark a bit so I go get him up. Every time I checked the monitor he was sitting up playing, so I have no idea if he actually slept or not, but he seems rested. He gets changed and a 6oz bottle when he gets up. He plays in the pack n play while I rustle up dinner (leftovers).
6pm - Dinner time! He didn't seem that hungry, probably because he had lunch so late, but I was hungry!
6:30pm - Straight from the dinner table to the bath tub! He was not pleased when I took him out.
6:45-7:45 - Fresh diaper, lotion, pjs, playtime. He did his evening stretches.
7:45 - Bedtime! Diaper, 6 oz bottle, brushing teeth, book, song and BED. He loves his crib and is always so happy to go to bed. He gets that from me.
8pm - whenever I go to bed: Clean up bath stuff, clean up kitchen, fold diapers, tidy up a bit, and RELAX!
