2nd Feast of poetry: the poems!

1) For djinni, something silly based on a picture of his cat.

Carnivore's Lament
I love to settle down to feast
On bird or fish or dainty beast.
Alas, this meal is far too tame;
A melon's guts aren't quite the same.

2) For klandagi, something serious about wolf, cougar, and duality.

Lessons

The noble wolf lives in a pack
They run, and hunt, and live as one.
Numbers add strength to meet a lack
But they turn on those who run alone.

The stalwart cougar walks alone.
Solitary and strong, the mountain beast
Needs no pack to raise her son
But has no others to share her feast.

Both have their strength, both their sorrow
Some would play dog, and others cat.
But you, my son, may face tomorrow
At times with friends, at times without.

So learn from both, but make your plans
To fit the circumstance; be a man!

3) For haikujaguar, something about mail (letters), dragons, and imperial, that rhymes.

Creamy parchment, yellow silk ties,
Gemstone ink, cherry blossom perfume.
Moonlit delivery, away from all eyes;
Shadowed horns and dark wings loom.

Trusted courier, soft pink hands,
Fragile flesh, stone-firm soul;
Slip past roving warrior bands
Ever mindful to his goal.

Mountain retreat, dressed in snow,
Fearsome guards breathing steam.
Wool-clad servants, blowing low,
Ice-rock garden, frozen stream.

Well draped wings, red for passion;
Ink-whispered words warm the heart.
Courier rewarded in royal fashion;
Wrapped in jewels and silken art.

Sunset army soars with spring;
Warriors descend as blossoms fly.
Scalefolk battle; a reptile king
Fights for love in bloody sky.

Starlight crown, leaf-framed moon,
A dusky maid, a triumphant lord.
Struggle-stained hides, flower strewn,
The beloved embrace in peace restored.

4) For siege, pasta, pickles, petunias in blank verse.

Plenty

Princess Petunia packed a picnic plucked
From pantries stocked with pastries stuffed with plums.
She picked pastrami to prepare with pickles
And peppered cheese on pumpernickel. To pour,
A pitcher perilous with peach libation.
A bite of pasta spiced with pimento, the meal
Completed perfectly with pinwheel popsicles.
Perchance if you approach politely, you
May perch on plushy pillows and partake with her.
