On the internet, there exists a group of people that argue that any artist who takes commissions should be willing to draw porn for them. They're willing to pay, and any artist who won't accept their commission just because that artist does not want to draw their favorite subject is a liar and a hypocrite who just needs to 'grow up' or 'get over it

In my observation, most people who take commissions have a set of parameters about what they will and won't accept. They have a range of topics, sizes, and so on. Some do pr0n, others don't. I think it's ridiculous to complain that some people don't draw pr0n when there are so many artists who are happy to draw pr0n, and indeed, some who only draw pr0n.

Assholes just aren't happy unless they have something to whine about.

Once or twice a year I get a prompt for the Poetry Fishbowl that I won't write, either because it conflicts with canon, is music/song, or is simply outside my range. I just tell people to pick something else if that was the only prompt they gave, but usually folks list multiple prompts, so it rarely comes up.

Btw, I'm looking for an illustrator for a wholesome picture book, target ages 4-8 years old, about a family moving into a fixer-upper house. It's the kind of thing where the pictures will be what sells the book so I'm willing to let the illustrator have 60% of sales, but I can't buy the pictures outright. If you are or know an artist who's willing to work for potential sales to publishers, please let me know!

I wish I knew! I'm not connected to the network of professional artists out there except in the loosest of terms- I know some people who've done a fair number of commissions in the furry community over the years. But the art world is changing fast, especially with the new furor over AI art and what it means.
