Not my fault I've been quiet this time. The wave of violence that Jaiysh al-Mahdi unleashed in Baghdad fell largely on the eastern, Shi'a sections around Sadr City. The areas near us. Sorry to hear of the attacks and the costly aftermath. As for the promotion board, it's still amazing how our bureaucracy continues to crunch along no matter what is going on outside.

By any chance, has anything gone right since you've been there?

Umm....
I think we've done a fair job of breaking up some nasty Al Qaeda and Iran-supported terror cells...And I think we've made life a little better for some of the people around here.

But the Iraqi Gov't is still a shambling, corrupt mess, the city services are as broken down as ever, and the militias are only stronger.

I don't know.

Hey, I think that's progress and you all deserve countless kudos for that. It's just a shame that things couldn't have gone better AND that the Western world has a 30 sec attention span.
