Brian
I did my time at Riggers School 66-67 as a cook.
Did I know heroes? I guess. Army troops and Jarheads right out of jump school, a platoon of Air Force Jumpmasters each cycle. Did they all return?
We were the only school for parachute packing in the Military, so we had many specialist and foreign soldiers; UDT, SEALS, Canucks, Brits, Turks, Iranian, Viet, Turk, Filipino. Did they all come home?
The squad leaders at the school were all vets and eager for a return to Nam. I hope they all came home.
The guys I went thru Basic with(it is amazing the bonding you do), did they return to their families??????
I lift my glass of wine to them... and to you
Love
Dad

I think there were about 1,000 others with the Spartans at Thermopylae as well but I don't think they are as well remembered.

It is indeed a shame that there are many others we know who will be forgotten, except by the few who knew them and what they stood for. And they deserve to be remembered more fondly and for longer than they are. I take a look at who most Americans seem to hold in esteem and I shudder at times.
