Abarai RenjiArisawa TatsukiAizen SousukeGrimmjow JaggerjackHinamori MomoHirako ShinjiHitsugaya ToushirouIl Forte GrantzIse NanaoIshida Uryu Abarai Renji
Lieutenant aboard the Future 7
Renji was born on Alpha-5. He was never close with his parents. His father was a good-for-nothing layabout who was eventually imprisoned for accruing debt, and his mother was a whore. Actually, she wasn’t. Renji barely knew his mother-she let the family when he was very young, after a violent argument with Renji’s father; she didn’t take Renji with her, and consequently, Renji still has issues in his interactions with women. So no, his mother wasn’t a whore, but envisioning her as one for leaving him alone with his deadbeat father made the pussy-whining go away.
So if you ask Renji about his mother, she was a whore.
At any rate, Renji spent most of his childhood doing manual labor and anything else (except that, he can’t do -that-) to keep him and his father afloat on the pittance of money he got through charity, which (given the location) was next to nothing.
When he was younger than he is now, he met a young girl by the name of Rukia who just seemed to gel with him. Renji hated fickle bitches, and Rukia was decidedly not a fickle bitch-she even stood up for him when jerk-offs made fun of his deeply red hair (and hell if Renji knew how it turned out that color-maybe it was something in the water or maybe it was because his mother really was a whore) . If Renji even once came to suggesting that Rukia was a fickle bitch, she probably would have kicked him in the nards. Renji slowly grew to realize that, not only did he get along with Rukia, he admired her deeply. She grew to be braver than him, did better at things than him, picked them up faster. Rukia was, when it came right down to it, much more intelligent and capable than Renji. It was obvious to Renji that she was going places, and no matter how hard he worked, he was never going to catch up to her; not ever. This hurt Renji pretty bad. Worse than a kick in the nards, because Renji, well.
Yeah. He loved her.
When Rukia left him, he spent at least a month being a bitter asshole. In turn, he lost his job, because when you’re a bitter asshole to your boss, he tended to can your ass. Life sucks that way, and Renji didn’t care-he’d just realized that the girl of his dreams walked out of his life, just before he could tell her she was the girl of his dreams. And he was never gonna see her again.
He got involved in less-than-socially-acceptable forms of work at that point; things like racketeering and illegal trade. If he wasn’t toughened up enough already by the inhospitable environment he lived in, the one that gave Renji a penchant for long, neck-and-ear-covering hair and furry jackets, he was toughened up by a life on the edge of the law. Barfights taught you better to defend yourself than training, because in a bar fight, you could guarantee that your opponent would always (no matter WHAT), cheat like a nymphomaniac with a frigid wife. You learned to pilot and run the crew of a ship better when you were running from gun-toting police, and you learned how to actually fire a gun when you finally decided, fuck this, I’m firing back. And you never, ever, ever gave up running away.
He got the tattoos and the piercings and the eyebrows to remind himself every waking moment that you just never ran away.
That’s why, when Renji ended up applying for a position with Gotei, they hired him straightaway. They trained him. Then they gave him his assignment. The Lieutenant of the Future 7.
Arisawa Tatsuki
Stowaway aboard the Future 7
Project Hougyoku: an undercover mission funded by the government to develop an almost never-ending source of power, one with the capacity to fuel all ships and eliminate the need for reserves. For decades, the Feds sent grants to a secret research center hidden in the midst of all the factories on Epsilon-3, away from the prying eyes of wannabe spies and rebels. If everything progressed according to plan, the future of the solar system would be secure. Ships would no longer have to stop for refueling in the middle of a long trip, causing backlog and delay. Citizens would no longer have to worry about diminishing supplies of oil or gas, and instead effort could be put towards research and expansion.
Of course, the idea of having a monopoly over humanity’s main source of power was an appealing thought as well.
Like most of the citizens living on Epsilon-3, the Arisawa family was completely unaware of the developments occurring under their very noses. Daughter to a prosperous Japanese factory owner and his American wife, Tatsuki lived a lockstep life, taught to abide by a strict set of rules set by her parents, the product of a factory of discipline. As an only child, Tatsuki was also placed under heavier burdens than most girls her age, expected to take over the factory and its workings when the time came, and she stood up to the challenge, earning good grades in her classes and spending extra hours learning the inner workings of manufacturing and trade.
However, taking up the weight of such burdens made Tatsuki a very easy target for her peers, most of whom mocked her for being a “mere” girl and pushed her around for standing out regardless. As a result, the young girl developed a very brash, aggressive personality, both to fend off enemies and to rise in the eyes and ranks of the informal network of children with roots in industry. In her spare time, Tatsuki could frequently be found wandering the alleys, accompanied a few other young hoodlums in the city with too much time on their hands. Under their influence, ‘rules’ soon became ‘guidelines,’ and the complex network of factory regulations was now simply a new game to be played. Risks increased in level as the group grew older, and by the time Tatsuki was nearing legal age, she had a target far more interesting than the mere factories that were dotted throughout the city.
For hidden between the large automobile factories at the outskirts of town was a small, stark white building, one that had been there as long as anyone could remember but whose purpose was a complete mystery. Warning signs were splayed along the high-rising fences that lined the perimeter of the structure, but as far as Tatsuki was concerned, the need to satisfy her curiosity was far more pressing. Soon enough, the soft tapping of her shoes on the linoleum echoed throughout the equally stark halls inside as Tatsuki wandered into a large lab, eyes widening as her gaze fell upon a large, iridescent crystal in the middle of the room.
The sign below read: HOUGYOKU PROTOTYPE 002.
Mesmerized by its shimmering reflections, Tatsuki had reached out to take the crystal in her hands.
And then the alarms sounded.
Three days later, a young boy with messily hacked locks boarded the Future 7, bidding farewell to home and greeting a future that had come too early.
Aizen Sousuke
Public Relations Officer, Gotei Ent.
Aizen Sousuke's history is much like himself - a mystery. If one researched enough, they would find he lived a quiet, boring childhood with two seemingly loving parents. There were no tragic events, seemingly impossible life-changing moments or the like. Aside from his excellent academic scores, he appeared completely normal.
A man of remarkable intelligence and physical prowess, Aizen Sousuke graduated from an esteemed University. He took several years off, to pursue individual studies, living his quiet life in peace, before eventually emerging to conquer the world - of business, that is.
Handsome and courteous, Aizen's public image and credentials took him to the offices of Gotei Enterprises, where his large vocabulary and good looks granted him the position of Public Relations Executive. He travels often, spanning the entire galaxy, personally dealing with difficult clients, or tedious affairs with the Confederate. There are few people who can dislike Aizen Sousuke, a fact he uses to his advantage.
Grimmjow Jaggerjack
One late evening, Grimmjow opened his eyes and had no recollection of his past. No parents, no friends, no childhood memories, no specific preferences for this or that... nor did he give a shit.
He woke up naked, wet, and sticky, with a thrist for destruction on a cold metal table. Seeing an opportunity before him, he killed everyone in the room with him, no questions asked. When he was the only one left standing, grinning maliciously at the pooled blood at his feet, an intercom crackled and sputtered. "Congratulations, Grimmjow Jaggerjack, you meet our expectations...Yes, what a fine soldier you'll make..."
Solider? Grimmjow wanted nothing to do what that; no one ruled him. Yet his intelligence reminded him that if he cooperated, being a solider meant he was allowed to be bloodthirsty and destructive with the claims of "it was my duty to 'protect'" to hide his true intentions. Yes, being a soldier would would be a great idea.
It was then that Grimmjow became a part of the Confederation, in a new faction called the "Espada". This group was only sent out on secret missions that very few, yet very classified officals knew about. It's members were limited, but filled with others like Grimmjow - in the sense they clearly weren't human; they never allow emotions to get in the way, never stopping to second guess others, and taking the motto "do now, think later or not at all".
Although rumors have been circulating that the Espada will bring downfall to the confederation, Grimmjow doesn't care. Just as long as he gets his way.
Hinamori Momo
Stowaway aboard the Creeping Limit
Growing up on Epsilon-3 was not easy for Hinamori Momo. Her family was a proud group of mechanics who traded with the incoming and outgoing ships in order to keep their small shop alive. Most of her childhood was spent with her father explaining the various tools and equipment that he used, and how each component fit and worked together; she absorbed the information like a sponge. Mechanics made sense; each cog, each wire, each nut fit together in a way that rest of her small world had not since shortly after her eighth birthday, when her mother had tried to bring a new addition to their family, and Momo lost them both.
It was a struggle, but they survived. Momo slowly learned to live the pain of losing her mother, her natural optimism shining through as her father became her rock and she became happy with their simple existence.
It was around her fourteenth birthday that her whole world changed again. She had been out with the few friends when the sky had turned a brilliant white against the haze of buildings. She didn’t remember much about the attack, the white, the screaming, the sounds of sirens, but she did remember the aftermath. The raid on her town had been botched, and her family’s shop and the three blocks around it had been blown to bits. She had been lucky, just outside the range of the explosion, though the backlash was enough to lift her off her feet.
That was the day she lost everything.
Life after that seemed to blend from one thing into another as she worked for food and shelter, for survival. She scraped by using her minimal domestic skills, until she realized that she had the one of the most valuable skills of them all: she could fix ships. That discovery was soon followed by the realization that she was also good at sneaking onto them. Her small stature gave her an advantage in fitting into cargo holds and hidden nooks and crannies that the other people on the ship often overlooked in their day-to-day lives.
By bartering her skills, she was able to hop around the various systems with relative ease, looking for work, or a place to rest her head. The cycle continued until she landed herself on the Creeping Limit. Discovered before she was ready to revel herself by the captain, she found herself making a deal to remain on the ship and repair the damage done to it by its quirky pilot, and bonding with the strange crew that made up the young captain’s ship.
And with them she finally found a place she was ready to call a home.
Hirako Shinji
Captain, Mascaron
Shinji’s got an agenda and if you’re not on it, you aren’t shit.
Born in the heart of the Federation’s military play-Lambda-2-has grown up knowing a lot more than your average boy with a voice in his head…and by a voice in his head, he means just that. As long as he can remember, Shinji has had this thing that talks to him and it’s not imaginary and he’s pretty sure it’s not his friend, but it’s powerful and unexplained. In his earlier years he couldn’t control the voice though and went what some people might call batshit without warning. Considered dangerous his parents, both too well known and power-oriented, told him one day: just leave. That they hated ‘what’ he was, well it was clear enough and Shinji wasn’t averse to traveling, so he left, after erasing his history with the two who would have been his parents. All databases were wiped of any record of Okuda Shinji.
His name was Hirako now. Hirako Shinji. And the next few years would prove to be very interesting indeed. Along the way he would discover the concept of the Hougyoku, kill one of the federation’s scientists-by accident in his defense-and meet Sarugaki Hiyori, miss sandal scourge herself. Shinji likes Hiyori for the most part, except when she’s throwing his well coordinated clothing everywhere and calling him bald. Having met briefly before in a piloting academy, the second time he met her was also when he discovered their common thread…or voice, whatever.
With her he has disclosed almost everything he knows. Dropped into Gotei when they met for the second time, the idea of stealing a ship was a popular one. The fact that they were possibly out of their minds wouldn’t occur to this pair. They renamed the stolen Mascaron, changing it to: Vaizard…and Shinji for better or worse considered himself, Hiyori, and anyone else like them to be just that namesake: vaizards.
The suppressor chip used in Hiyori was an abomination, he thought.
We hate you, his parents once said. That was undoubtedly how the Federation thought of them: hated, dangerous, and not quite human. The humans would simply be frightened.
What more to do than gather as many of their kind as possible?
This in mind, Shinji has recently only become pleased that Hiyori seems to have located another…a boy named Kurosaki Ichigo with a positively screaming potential. He plans on dressing well, so as to make a good impression on the prodigious one while offering passage on the Vaizard…at sword point.
After all, it’s not like he’s about to let Ichigo say no to them along with the rest of the universe.
No, they’re different.
And they know him…they know Ichigo and about that.
There remains only the matter of making him see this.
Hitsugaya Toushirou
Captain, Creeping Limit
Born in a fairly affluent family on Epsilon One, Hitsugaya was a genius gifted with opportunity; he had a good education, showed an aptitude - and a clear affinity - for ship’s operations, and had a good head for business negotiations. His future was quite clearly mapped out for him: he’d attend the Intergalactic Law Enforcement Facility, become an officer, serve on a good ship, and, when his tour of duty was up, he’d find a comfortable government position. While he wasn’t completely comfortable with it, Hitsugaya knew that there wasn’t much other choice, so, when he turned 15, he boarded a transport to Lambda 3.
And trouble, as it is wont to do, found him. Two pirate ships - transports armed to the teeth with illegal weapons - accosted the transport and docked with it, intent on stealing whatever they could, and leaving no evidence behind. Not having any other choice, and wanting very much to not be blown into space, Hitsugaya hitched a ride, managed to stay unseen - and most importantly, unshot - until the pirate ship landed on an outer colony.
After sneaking off the ship, Hitsugaya realized one very important thing: it never occurred to him to steal from the pirates and was unable to pay for passage back to the central worlds. He couldn’t even pay the bureaucrats to verify his identity and send him new papers. He needed a job, and Gotei Enterprises was a company that didn’t ask a lot of questions. He found something there he wasn’t expecting: people he could trust, and within a few months, he was no longer working just to afford passage back to the central worlds. He actually wanted to be a courier (and occasional pirate - the kind that didn’t blow up transports on a whim). He started out as a pilot, showed Old Man Yama he had a fine head for business and leading people, and before long, he was a lieutenant on a courier. When a captaincy opened up on the Creeping Limit, Hitsugaya pushed for it, and got it.
Il Forte Grantz
Demolitions expert/general crew, Las Noches
Il Forte Grantz knew one thing growing up: he was the older brother and he demanded that the universe acknowledge him as such. Older brothers were faster, smarter, more handsome, and all around better than their younger siblings. He thought he was well on his way; as the oldest of two sons of a munitions engineer, he quickly latched onto the field, showing an aptitude for the use of those munitions.
It was the only thing he was very good at, but he didn’t worry; not until his little brother started surpassing him in that too. He worked harder. The Federation needed sharpshooters and munitions experts, and he would be one of those.
It seemed that the universe was finally on the right track when Il Forte was accepted to the Federation Army and Zaera-Polo refused. It was right; his right as an older brother. Older, wiser, more handsome… Better. Il Forte worked his way up, impressing his superiors with his knowledge of weapons and explosives. Soon, he was an officer in good standing
Il Forte - proud of his standing and his training in munitions and explosives - transferred to the Hollow forces, because that was where the power was. He remembered being satisfied to no end when his little brother followed his footsteps. Finally, things were right. The younger one was behind him.
Then, his little brother - his younger, not wiser, not more handsome, not better - brother found himself in the ranks of the Espada and Il Forte… Il Forte was only an officer. He had been satisfied with his rank, until his little brother became his superior.
Their dubious relationship ended with a confrontation, but Il Forte has kept track of his little brother, if only to be able to be there when Zaera-Polo failed.
Because it was only a matter of time before the laws of the universe righted themselves, and the older brother was again superior.
Ise Nanao
Secretary/Administrative Assistant to Kyouraku Shunsui
The Ise family had everything: wealth, prosperity, happiness - Mr. and Mrs. Ise were still very much in love after ten years of marriage, and they cared for their daughter Nanao as their most prized possession. Mr. Ise was an affluent and well-liked politician, and his wife was the picture-perfect hostess, only too happy to do anything for her husband. Nanao, while as stern as her father and spending more time in her books than playing with the other children her age, was content to obey the rules of etiquette and allow her mother to show her off to their constant influx of guests - as long as she was allowed her alone time when they were done.
However, shortly after Nanao’s eleventh birthday, everything changed. Her father made a heinous mistake in a decision of foreign policy, ruining the Confederate’s chances at acquiring a very valuable ally. He was stripped of his position and sent into exile in the Alpha system. That they were given a choice at all for which planet they could live on was a result of just how popular Mr. Ise was before his fall.
While once Nanao had all she needed for a comfortable life and all the books in the world she could ever desire, on Alpha-2 suddenly the dinner table stopped being full, they stopped having guests, and Nanao had to scrabble to find old newspapers to read. They weren’t as poor as the pitiful souls in the Chi-system, as they still had money in reserve from their previous life, but they needed to ration that money, as they no longer had a solid source of income. As soon as people caught wind of who he was, no one would hire Nanao’s father, until finally he stopped trying, settling into the mindset that he deserved his fate. Mrs. Ise was forced to pick up a job waitressing just to get by, while they sold everything they didn’t absolutely need.
Circumstances weren’t looking good for Nanao, who had always dreamed of going to college and becoming a doctor. However, in high school, despite having to balance her studies against working to support her family, Nanao was offered a full scholarship to Alpha Central University near Gotei Headquarters. Sadly, they still could not afford medical school, but Nanao would take what she could get. She graduated with a degree in business (for practical purposes) and a minor in classic literature, accompanied by the highest honors., and with the firm conviction that with hard work and perseverance, you can do anything. Immediately, she was snatched up by Gotei Enterprises as an Administrative Assistant/Secretary, though she didn’t know to whom. Nanao was only too happy - she knew of Gotei’s reputation, and what better way to make her small revenge against the Confederate than to work for the thorn in their side?
Ishida Uryu
Pilot, Future 7
Six months ago if someone had asked Uryu Ishida what he planned to do for a living, the last answer he would have given was piloting the Future 7-or any ship for that matter. Six months ago he was a quiet, polite, (if slightly arrogant) student whose biggest problem was what to do after high school: take the position offered to him by the suits at The Confederation, or listen to the voice in his head that told him to avoid them at all cost. He certainly wouldn’t have imagined that he’d find himself the sole witness to his grandfather’s murder... or that the hollows who killed him would make him a target because of it.
As an only child he’d never known his mother and knew even less about his father, aside from the fact that he was quite influential and indulged in activities that kept him very busy. Ishida never questioned this. Instead, he found himself in the care of his grandfather, a kind man who highly encouraged him to educate himself about the world around him. Taking this advice literally, he threw himself into his schoolwork and effortlessly rose to the top. His grades alone were enough to earn him a high-powered position within the glossy offices of The Confederation. It also went without saying that any doubt on the part of the officials would be overlooked due to his father’s affluent position within the ranks. But there were some things that books couldn’t teach, and how to handle betrayal was one of them.
Ashamed that he’d done nothing to protect the one person he cared about, Ishida ran. Sitting in the lap of luxury wasn’t exactly known to build character and he had to become stronger-he had to prove to himself that he wasn’t a coward. But even the most self-reliant need money to survive. Alpha-1’s Gotei Enterprises seemed like a rational choice.
