Bowing to the inevitable?

"The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we
know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you
think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but
you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about
you."

Are you a self-taught do-it-yourselfer, or did someone show you the ropes?

No, I've learnt (and continue to learn) a lot from my Dad who had the benefit of going to technical college before he did his degree. Back in those days they actually taught you how to lay a row of bricks or weld pipeing.

I think my Dad will always be more practical than me when it comes to building stuff and although I'm less worried by the bigger tasks there is some stuff that he would do that I'd rather just pay a professional for.

Whats the most impractical thing you've ever done? (its just you always seem so down-to-earth and practical)

Hmm, tricky one. I'm pretty sure I have done some stunningly impractical things in my time but none really come to mind. A couple of months ago I thought about trying to do a concert and two parties in one night while having a cold. In the end I went to bed straight after the concert after I realised it would in fact be impractical!

Having said that I think wearing the high heels at Rocky Horror three years ago was probably quite high on the list of impractical shoes. I lost all sensation in my middle toes for about 3 months.

How do you stay so young looking?

Flattery will get you anywhere ;-)

Well looking back even a few years you should be able to see a difference. I did at one point get quite pudgy and since I've struggled to bring my weight down I have been a lot kinder to my body. I do some exercise occasionally working up to regular exercise. My diet is pretty good these days so I eat a lot less chocolate than I used to. As a result I eat a lot more fruit try and keep hydrated drinking plenty of water.

I also keep my hair pretty short and wear much nicer glasses now. Wether this actually keeps me looking young I don't know but its certainly nice of you to say so :-D

Can you teach me how to wire a lamp?

Probably - but I'd have to know which country your living in at the moment as wireing regs change from place to place ;-)
