Why is this so wrong?

Some of you are in game purists so might well disagree with me on this, so please tell me why!

This year, Irish games charity Auctions won the Dianajones award (http://www.dianajonesaward.org/) and a post was put on Rule 7 about this, so I followed up with an explanation of this and to give some context of the mind numbing generosity of the gamers ( Read more... )

It's two people. That's hardly the LRP world slating you or the LT.

Let it rest - they may be wrong, but they'll not let it rest however reasonable your answers.

Having said my 2 dimes, I agree with oldnick. Gamers complain. It's what they do best and serve to inflate dulled egos, albeit in a fleeting sense :)

Fair Nick, i've edited as I was not trying to say the LRP world as a whole, not even a part, in fact I have no problem with what Flannel said as he's putting points across. It's the scrotum who is questioning the motives of the most generous people I know doing the single most good act I am aware of.

As someone involvd in the Charity Auction, but speaking entirely as an individual and not representative of any group, con or organisation, I find it upsetting, but not at all surprising, that some gamers would take issue with the, shall we say, effects of the Charity Auction items. Such is the nature of people, I guess, and seeminlgy gamers in particular ( ... )

Face it, Lrp like any other hobby will always attract a number of wankers, unfortunatly these wankers usually have net access.

One thing to remember, is that Alick (flannel) does like trolling a lot too. He is however a perfectly decent guy when he is not on the net...

Met the guy, and yes he is a perfectly nice chap. However yet again its lrp + net + boredom = wanky behaviour. Or to use a Soulsplitter term 'instant twat, just add larp'

I remember seeing the shield that was won at the auction when Taz was carrying it around.

Myself - Nice shield, how much you pay for that?
Taz - About a grand (or some number close to that)
Myself - Fucks sake dude, they saw you coming
Taz - It was for charity
Myself - I'll shut the fuck up then.

:-) We did see him coming...but we stopped pushing up the bid at €2000...we could have gone further.

Yeah. Annoying that. I tend to agree with Alick (flannel) to a degree. I'd rather not see IC items got for OOC stuff, same reason I argue against staff getting snackies (whats that you say 21pts Simon? Ok, so I'm a hypocrite too)

And if as you say it raised a similar amount with or without the lammie in I don't see the need for it.

But I'm not going to dump on people who have given the money to charity, as thats pretty cool.

I'm always campaigning to drop the staff pointed characters but still play one as well. principles have a price and sometimes i'm a pauper. but if I get it changed i'll be the first to rip up my lammie!
