Coconuts are totally hard to eat! I remember struggling mightily with one I bought when in Hawaii. Once we finally broke the thing open it was still a challenge to cut pieces to eat.

Ashwin kept saying, "In India, they just hack it open with a machete. In India, they stick a grater inside to scrape it..."

Are you guys having any HP meetups in early August? I won't be too far from Atlanta then. :)

I don't know the date of the August party, but it's usually later in the month. How far is not far?

Yay for goodness!

That shininess website looks all kinds of awesome.

I don't remember it being hard to open coconuts when I lived in Hawaii, so either my mom must be really strong or she had some sekrit way of doing it (like a tool. Probably not a machete though.)

*loves you*

You were one of the people I thought of first when I saw that site. :)

Well, since you know things about coconuts, I should probably explain that it wasn't just the nut in the shell, but a not-quite-ripe nut still in that white husky stuff, so we had to saw through the white stuff and then stab open the shell.

'lsfjasdlfjal butter knives are awesome. There's a weapon in aikido called the bokken, and before I knew the actual name I kept calling it "the butter knife." It does look pretty much like a big wooden butter knife.

Mmm! Coconut!
