It was foggy here in San Jose this morning. It reminded me of driving to work in the 'other' valley. It was the first time I have used my fog lights for their intended purpose in quite some time

Keep on truckin. Find a new place to live out there. You will eventually broaden your horizons by staying out of the central valley for a while. : )
Unless all you want to do is find another job in the central valley, find a wife, raise kids, mow the lawn, watch TV, play video games, stare at the computer, go to church and/or be surrounded by fundamentalist christians, and hopefully get out of town to do something as often as you can. : )
But I understand about living situations that get you down. I've been in a few myself. Sometimes you just gotta get out, no matter what town you escape to. It beats you down and it's not worth it. Good luck, Chuck.
I myself am heading to Portland next year. Exciting! Scary! : )
I'm just thinking...I was living waaaaay better in Turlock than I at this point. I made loads more money, everything was cheaper (esp. rent). There wasn't as much job competition as there is here too. I often think about just packing up and leaving the state too. I doubt I would find myself moving back to the central valley...those were some decent times for me though.
