Et All

Dear LJ (buzzcut-division),

I gave myself a haircut a few nights back:

It's down to about an inch or so on top; had fun giving myself a #1 (the standardized length, not the symbol) on the back of my head (it's harder than you might think to shave parts of your body that are impossible for you to view directly).

Dear LJ (financial-division),

So far, I'm two weeks into procuring parts for my synth. Due to several setbacks, silly mistakes (I can never seem to prepare enough), and bad suppliers, I've already put 2-3 times as much money into it than I had originally planned. FUCK! It's worth it though, and it's not as if I'm in debt now or anything; I had the money, just wish I hadn't had to spend it... |'8-/>

Dear LJ (bright-lights-division),

Sometimes, procuring parts from surplus suppliers sucks, but in the following case, it was the only option to use. :-/

I'm installing a backlight on my TR-707. I bought two of these and they're absolutely the PERFECT size for the LCD on the drum machine. Unfortunately, unlike the previous EL strip I had, it didn't like to be left connected to mains-120VAC (the stuff from a wall outlet) for more than a few seconds, and I fried both of them because of it! GAH!

Luckily, I also bought a pair of these, and was able to overlap them just to make sure all this work/time/money I'm putting into this was worth it, visually. I think it is:

So, now I have ordered a bunch more of the good EL panels, and hopefully they'll work properly with some specifically-designed EL-drivers from Coolight.com. :-D
