I'm not happy with school. I dred waking up and going to class everyday. Living a simple sort of life without the pressure of confusing that life with a career is more and more inviting. I don't know if I'll continue next semester. I don't want to go into filmmaking. I don't know exactly what I want to do, but somehow I'm comfortable knowing I'm ( Read more... )

Yeah, Thursday night I come back from taking a shower and there's a note on my door that says "Hi Breanna, I am Yirong Chen and I will be your new roommate" and then she moved in the next day. Surprise. So far she has tricked me into eating dried shredded packaged squid and she sometimes plays the Pirates theme song on repeat, but on the whole she's a sweet girl. Studious. I do miss having my own space and a spare bed, though. Just in case.

Asians are strange. Many times I've seen them wander campus with back packs on at midnight on a Saturday. It's not the Arabs we should be concerned about, it's the Asians. They're all too often overlooked, they could be building bombs and we'd never know it. Wasn't the VA tech kid Asian. Keep your eyes peeled!

PS. They also have SARS. Brea shall get a surgical mask for Christmas.

This fear is something that I am realizing blocks me from a lot of what I really want to go after, too. And I'm so glad to hear it articulated with such eloquence and understanding due to experience and environment. This year is really making me realize how institutionalized education has its sucky aspects...many sucky aspects. I'm an adult, I'm paying thousands of dollars for this education, why can't I just receive what I need to receive damn it...learn what I fucking want to learn instead of having pompous asses shove what THEY think I should learn down my throat. But I continue instead of rebelling out of what? FEAR. Fear of what? I don't fucking know. But it's gotta change. And I believe we can all be each other's inspiration. Thanks Jessie. I love you, and miss you.
