Drinking underage (why did you word it so weird)

Probably not a good idea in this country. But that is because this country is sorta dumb. In almost every country in the word 12 year olds drink wine with many meals. They don't think much of it and so they never decide to go get drunk. Its just not cool. They realized that its stupid. If you don't catch my drift you aren't going to so that ( Read more... )

i said "drinking underage" to ask about the individual decision whereas "underage drinking" i think means the phenomenon as a whole.

the drinking age should be 18, because right now alcohol is SO overrated.

and making it 18 would rate it about where it belongs? wtf does the government have to do with it anyways.

America messed up on the drinking age. Because it is so high I think there is more alcohol abuse by those under age. however, America is now at a standstill because we can't just automatically lower the drinking because our already alcohol abusive society will just have the opportunity to abuse it legally. and we can't do a prohibition because we all know what happened last time (specifically: organized crime).

As you youngins do not realize the legal age to drink alcohol was 18 back in 84. As I am too tired to write a comment about it, here is something I posted on the letsrun message board about morality and the government:

Additionally, I find the minimum drinking age to be a perfect example of the decline of Federalism. If you remember correctly, the drinking age before 1984 was 18, attune to most Western countries. However, in 1984, the Federal Drinking Age Act was passed requiring states to change the drinking age to 21 or face a reduction in highway funds under the Federal Highway Aid Act. So, due to this act, rights were taken from states in a quick, morally induced heist.
