Kaiba crashes within minutes of his arrival. Doesn’t even make it up to his bed, just sort of tips over (exhausted and jetlagged) onto the couch and closes his eyes and doesn’t wake up until morning of the next day.
They don’t know what to do with themselves after that.
Mokuba finds a blanket and Yuugi helps him smooth it over his brother and then they make lunch.
A sober, strained affair- neither of them knows what to say or how to say it, so they cook in silence and eat in silence and then part in silence, rebounding to opposite ends of the house to entertain themselves for the rest of the day.
It’s considerably less fun than you’d expect.
Bedtime comes and goes and Mokuba stays up playing video games as late as he possibly can because he doesn’t want to think about where he’s going to sleep tonight.
(Alone. Shoved back into his own room now that Nii-sama’s home and he doesn’t fit into that bed anymore, even with Nii-sama on the couch tonight.)
Finally creeps upstairs well past midnight and peers in on Yuugi and finds him restless and making little distressed sounds in the back of his throat and it’s easy to justify climbing into bed with him for just a couple of minutes until he’s calmed down.
Except that then he can’t convince himself to climb back out again.
It doesn’t occur to him that Nii-sama will probably wake up before them and come upstairs to get ready for work and see them like that.
In bed together.
