Yuugi shows up on Kaiba's doorstep after two months.
And there’s of course a butler to usher him inside and leave him standing, too-small in the too-big entry hall where he spent less than no time at all during his stay with Kaiba.
He’s shifting uncomfortably on his feet by the time Kaiba finally comes down the stairs and he’s more than a little surprised that Kaiba’s willing to see him at all, that he hasn’t just been politely asked to leave by a faceless servant and forgotten.
And Kaiba stops at the bottom of the stairs with his hand still on the banister and looks over Yuugi with his eyes and says, “You look like shit.”
And it’s true.
He looks like he did after his Other left and before he found Kaiba to distract him.
He doesn’t know what to say after that (or why he’s here) so he just nods and breathes in long and down into his lungs and adds, “So do you.” Because it’s expected.
He wishes Kaiba would kiss him (and then fuck him hard and deep until he bled).
“How’s Mokuba?”
Kaiba’s expression flickers. “In Europe.”
And that seems like all of the words he’s going to get out of Kaiba. But he tries one more time anyway. “How’re you?”
“Busy.”
And that’s that.
He looks up. Catches Kaiba’s (too-intense) eyes with his own and the moment stretches on into eternity for an instant.
“I’ll let you get back to your work then.”
