Firefox is the Future

Firefox is the future. That's how I described it, almost immediately after I got it. Firefox is such a huge improvement over Internet Explorer, words do not begin to describe it. Though, the core of the browser defines the experience it's really the plug-ins that excel the program to new heights. I just wanted to point out some of the essential ( Read more... )

I used to have tons of plug-ins installed for firefox before my harddrive died, but ever since I got a new harddrive, I haven't really been motivated to find or add plug-ins.

The FoxyTunes one is very tempting, though.

I have been finding that Firefox is a huge system hog. Not so great for a multitasker.

The most important Add-ons for me are:

CustomizeGoogle: If you have a Google Account, that's a must-have. You can change lots of things in Gmail, web search and all the other google services
Download Statusbar: It's really nice if you don't like the extra window everytime you start a new download.

And as you said Tab Mix Plus and Adblock Plus. But I don't use Filterset G as it is not recommend by developer of Adblock Plus himself (see http://adblockplus.org/en/faq_project#filterset.g). There is also a link to the other filterlists. I personally recommend that you give EasyList (and EasyElement) a try. It really works faster than Filterset G.

I am sold on Customize Google, if nothing other than the fact that it hides my spam count. My OCD compulsions tell me to clean it out all the time, which is annoying. I already have Download Statusbar but didn't mention it in my post. It is handy but not always necessary.

I don't notice any performance improvements with EasyList and EasyElement but it blocked a few ads on Facebook, which were visible before so I'll stick with it.

I'm curious who you are. The screen name of Ares doesn't ring any bells in my head.

YOu know that most extensions have options, right? ;-) No, seriously, the standard options are really bad (for example who needs all the links to other search engines?). But you can change everything the way you want it. ("Tools" - "CustomizeGoogle options" - "Gmail" - "Hide spam counter")

I don't know you. Should I know you? :D I'm just somebody who had nothing else to do than searching for some recent blogentries (in your case about Firefox entensions) and somehow came to this place.

Yup. I know. I was just stating that that certain feature was exactly what I wanted.

I was just surprised you knew my name. It must be in my profile. I didn't realize it was publicly displayed.
