I was quite disappointed. Like I've been saying, though, it's very difficult to make a movie out of OotP. Rowling develops her characters so much in this book and they come so far that it is almost impossible to make them real without a 5 hour movie. It felt like being on the Great American Scream Machine---it is a pretty fun ride, but when you ( Read more... )

The overall problem with all of the HP movies is that you dont know the characters like you know them in the book. In the book, you really get to know them. You know them in and out, as if they are real people. All of the character nuances become so familiar to you. And then in the movies... well, its basically impossible to translate that familiarity to screen. I think thats why a lot of people get offended by the movies, because we dont feel the same connection to the characters.

When I go into the theater, I didn't expect to see one of my favorite books in movie form. What I did expect was to see a worthy followup of the Goblet of Fire movie. As such, I was satisfied.

That's what I realized later...the movies are a lot like CliffsNotes for people who are teh suck and don't want to read them. You can talk about the plot and kind of know what you're talking about, but you will be flamed by every true HP fan. I dunno, I *was* offended and I probably shouldn't have been...poop...

AMAZING coaster analogy :)

I think we should go see it again and this time take notes like we did with Chamber of Secrets. Maybe the annoying preteens who didn't know how to use their cell phones will be there too!
