[Okay, so Splendid's figured out by now that he doesn't have any powers. He's also learned that all hope is not lost- people can regain those things. And since he's a moron, he's already assumed that it's only a matter of time before his abilities come back. Furthermore, today seems like the perfect day to test that theory! Feel free to catch him

sorry, brosis, but the twenty-something moron can't really aim just WHERE he falls....here's hoping that he doesn't break anything of yours!]
Oof!

His landing is punctuated by sickening cracks and yet another scream, now hair-raisingly tinged with agony.]
M-m-my arm!!!! [Garnet breaks out in a cold sweat and begins trembling violently when she looks up to find the white of her radius bone is jutting out where her wrist should be curving gently instead.]

this is a terrible day for everyone!]

Garnet drags herself out from under the would-be superhero with her good arm and rolls onto her side to face him, groaning the whole way.]
Just w-what in the world w-were you t-trying to do?!

His mouth moves just a little and more blood spills out, running down his cheeks to add to the pool around his head, turning his unusual blue hair a disturbing shade. HE'S...STILL BREATHING, but yeah that's a nasty crack in his forehead right there.]

A Curaga would have patched them right up, she knows this too well, and the fact that she just can't wrenches a frustrated howl from her as the hurt in her body ratchets up in intensity to remind her that her wrist is snapped in half, she has road rash on her arms and face, and shards of rib are poking into her lungs. And Splendid, who is sprawled out beside her, seems to be faring much worse.
She reaches out to him with her unbroken arm, dropping her trembling hand on his shoulder after running her fingers over the side of his face and pressing them against his Adam's apple, where there's still a pulse. Well, he's not dead...yet.]
Splendid...we h-have to get help...

There is quite possibly now a window of bone where you can peer into the throbbing grey matter of his brain, if you cared to peel back the skin on his forehead.A red bubble wells up between his lips and pops, but at least his eyes are slowly cracking open.]

Her hand retreats, and slowly, torturously, she lifts herself up, realizing that she's been crying this whole time. She sits beside Splendid, whimpering each time she moves in a way that stirs her broken ribs, and begins dabbing at his forehead with her sleeve. His wound is severe, worse than anything she's got, and she knows she'll have to do more to stop the bleeding.
It takes much effort - literal blood, sweat, and tears - to remove her sweater, but once she has, she gingerly tugs Splendid's head into her lap and begins to dress his wound, folding the cream-colored garment and wrapping it around his head.] Just hold on...

Splendid is not a very good hero at all, really, as some very small and very buried part of him might realize one day.
His fingers finally move, but slowly, scuttling sluggishly over the concrete for something- anything to hold. Blood still seeps from his mouth; he makes a listless gurgling noise.]

Dimly, he realizes that one of his hands is warm and that hand manages to curl a little, squeeze just slightly, wanting more of it. Maybe he's even trying to say it's all right, don't worry, I'll come back- I'm a superhero.]

She's feeling a little dizzy from blood loss and brute shock, but she hangs onto consciousness despite how her body urges her to faint and allow sleep to dull all the hurt. Isn't that what princesses were supposed to do when they were in trouble? Instead, she curves her quivering lips and smiles down at him, assuring him that she won't leave his side until it's over.
The battered monarch gasps when Splendid squeezes her hand, and the pain that flares through her fractured ribs makes her grip him back more tightly. She lifts his hand and presses it to her collar bone, nestling it between her chest and her chin. She begins to hum her song, the same song she had been singing when they first met. It won't be long now.]

But that's for then, and now her melody reaches him on some soft and distant and fading shore. He sucks in a harsh breath- it whistles hauntingly over his teeth -and does his best to hum the superhero fanfare in return. But he can't, there's no strength left for that, and perhaps it's for the best that Garnet's song is left alone.
The hand that's held moves once more in Garnet's grasp, and then falls limp. Splendid is gone.]

because
Splendid
is
dead.
A wail escapes her lips, expanding her lungs with a shuddering breath and etching her cry with pain. She falls forward like a child prepared to throw a tantrum, and makes contact against Splendid's stilled chest before she begins howling, overwhelmed by the utter betrayal of having to face death with no way to stop it, of being trapped in this horrible town that has taken everything from her with no explanation. On and on she sobs, sprawled out on top of Splendid's body, impelled by all the physical and psychological torture that has been inflicted on her thus far.]
