(no subject)
so i finished the third season of the venture bros last night (because i am a loser who does things out of order and i can't find the second season anywhere)
this may be the greatest show ever created by humans and i'm not even being hyperbolic
i know this has been said a million times, but the show's greatest strength really is the characterization and how it pushes the boundaries of still keeping the characters (mostly) sympathetic
i mean, rusty does some fucked up shit this season (and every season, it's pretty much the point of the show) but you still basically feel for him because of his awful childhood. and it becomes even more apparent this season how horrible that childhood was (seeing his dad's dick at breakfast? his dad falling on his playhouse while having sex with dr. quymn's mom?)
but at least he didn't turn out like action johnny, i guess!
plus the animation is gorgeous and the writing is consistently hilarious, i don't think there was an episode this season i didn't absolutely love even when i was expecting to dislike it
even the weird underground episode
HOWEVER i think you all know what the real point of this entry is:
the monarch and dr. girlfriend are the greatest characters ever
so yeah go watch the venture bros
season one is streaming in various places online and then you will get addicted and buy all the dvds
