I'm sure the OP knew that - they were asking how/what to do. Did you think "train them" was a helpful response?

I think it was helpful because I elaborated on it just now. I and several others just now offered some training tips and all she keeps giving is excuses. Others have offered to help her by offering to train the cat for her. Will wait to see what her response is to them.

Here is my elaboration:
I would provide toys, enrichment in the kitten's life. Scratch posts for the kitten and older cats. And training them to play with toys instead of your objects isn't a bad idea either. If you can't do any of these then please, do the RIGHT thing and give the cats to a rescue who will give them to someone who can and will do this for them.
Here is her dumb response: I provide them with toys, empty boxes that they
love, I have an old mattress up against a wall that they play on, I play with them constantly. I have two scratching post, and two play cube things for them. They have plenty to do trust me. I'm not one to abuse an animal. My girls are spoiled, and I love them very much.

Excuses.

And here is the other helpful person's response: Uhhh use a paperclip as a book msrk or dog ear it. It dounds like she is jealous of the attention you give the book. If the book mark has a tassel then give her her own.

I'd just tell her the kitten will get bored of the bookmark soon enough.

No way. Cats do what they want. You can try a spray bottle though, but that is only temporary. They'll still try to go on whatever even after getting sprayed.

They'll still learn to avoid what you train them to stay off of.

Asking questions about a kitten sounds like the opposite of a SPO. At least she is asking for advice rather than kicking the kitten. Especially if they don't have much exposure to cats.

Cats can have a million toys and still want to play with a bookmark.
