My, this is a rather delicate situation, is it not? I'm sure there are still some of you who have doubts as to the validity of whether the people here are fakes or not, but still. It would be better to be safe than sorry, would it not? Therefore, allow me to offer an ultimatum ( Read more... )

[When Bazett hears the man's words, she grips the phone so hard that her knuckles start turning white. When she finally composes herself enough to answer, her voices comes out in a slow, harsh whisper.]

Our comrades exist. They have never been erased or replaced. I will find a way to remember them and I will make the rest of the town do so as well. Therefore, you should stop making these offers.

What proof do you have that they are not fake?

You're new here, aren't you?

I have been here for more than a month. As for the supposedly "erased" people, I have evidence that they have never been replaced. For example, they do not behave like the town's other creations. Also, they retain their various regains. It was never their existence that was tampered with, but our memories of them.

This proves nothing! It would hardly be beyond the town to create such beings, regardless.

Or perhaps both were tampered with.

They were willing to help disturb the town's infrastructure and, like us, they can suffer the consequences by being droned.

[She pauses a little bit.]

...Why are you making this offer anyway?

Again, this proves nothing. Do you think that because there is no immediate symptom you can view, that means it's fake?

It's my duty as a policeman.

Whether or not you believe me is up to you.

...I do not think I can believe your claim, though.

It's not too hard to understand.

It is my duty to make sure the populace is safe. If the means to return those who have been kidnapped is to slay their doubles, then clearly it's my duty to do such.

...Then I am afraid we must oppose each other. I know that my comrades have not been replaced, and I must protect them in case you attempt to kill them.

[The phone is slammed onto its base. Bazett starts grabbing the things that she needs. If people like this man are roaming around Mayfield, then she would need to check up on her allies and protect them.]
