it's a sullen household. brickett's apartment is dimly lit, covered in newspaper clippings and other evidence of his obsession. he drifts in an out at strange hours, and he doesn't question it when aaron does the same. they have the same way of getting themselves into a fight-- and in the rare occasions they brawl together, it's a deadly combination of powers and a reckless lack of self-preservation. both young, both bloody, both with heavy losses in their pasts that they haven't quite let go of. between the two of them, they never manage to keep the fridge properly full. there isn't much verbal communication-- how do you talk about a losses like theirs?-- but there's a sense of kindred spirits. bruised knuckles and bitterness.

aubrey & rachel

aubrey despises her. and at the same time, being with her is his way of acting out, of venting the frustrations that build in him because of june. it's not the same with her-- there's a part of him that needs humiliation and pain-- but it's enough. he knows his brother doesn't approve, and he knows that his father would have rather strangled the life out of him than have such an ill-behaved son. but, the old man will never know, and he enjoys doing something that raleigh can't make him stop. even if rachel's mouth tends to rile his quiet temper. better still, she's nothing like robin.
